Being a teacher involves constant change and flexibility from types of children you teach to the your day goes. A lesson plan you have is cut short by a mandatory assembly- what now? You have a student with a disability that you have never worked with- now what? You have a child who speaks absolutely no English and you know none of their language- now what? A parent is upset about their child's grade and want to know what you have done wrong- now what?
The questions can go on and on but my answer to all of them is the same. JUMP RIGHT IN! You have to get experience, being willing to try new things, make mistakes, learn from them and try again. You cannot be afraid of failure or doing something wrong. Jump into learning about your students, planning, modifying lesson on the spot, learning from experts, people who have been in the field for a long time, new teachers, administrator councilors and more. Never fear seeking advise of not being perfect! Every day as your students learn, so do you. So I say jump into every experience, with and open heart and open mind! |

"Google has a policy of allowing its employees to dedicate 20 percent of their time to personal projects that they hope will eventually equate to new products/services. The idea is that if you allow your employees to follow their passions, good things will happen. As such, [I have] dedicated 20% of [my] time to learn Adobe Illustrator using technology." Digital Pedagogy Project
Here is my opportunity to use the web to teach about _____. For this project, I will become a producer of web content to teach something. I will utilize a variety of sources, mainly of my creation and curation, to create a learning experience for others. The project will be multi-media and accessible on the Internet. On my Digital Pedagogy Project page you will find reflections of my experience through the project.
